February Character Development Theme: Creativity

Dear Parents,

CREATIVITY IS HOW WE MAKE NEW THINGS TO SHARE WITH THE PEOPLE AROUND US! THERE ARE MANY FORMS OF CREATIVITY. USING YOUR IMAGINATION, YOU CAN COME UP WITH MANY THINGS TO CREATE.

This month’s value is creativity. When they are young, children are blessed with an abundance of both imagination and creativity. The difference is that imagination is inside one person’s head . Creativity is how an idea is brought into the world to be shared. Although you want your child to have a good imagination, more importantly, you want them to be able to express that imagination through creativity. Applied analytically, creativity also helps improve their thinking skills through creative problem-solving.

How can you help?

  • Encourage your child’s creative pursuits: drawing, crafting, cooking, dancing, martial arts training, writing, acting, singing, etc.
  • Foster creative problem-solving in your child’s life. Whenever possible, allow them to solve their own problems and handle their own issues, rather than resorting to “helicopter parenting .
  • Ask your children for help and
advice . This has the added bonus of showing your confidence in their ability to solve problem s.
